Despite being born without arms, Zhariff Afandi has already made his name as a renowned motivator and life coach. On Dec 13, he added another title to his portfolio – that of a book author.
His first book, ‘SOS: Surfing Out Stuff – A Book of Growth & Guidance’, was launched at the MPH Bookstore in Nu Sentral Mall on Dec 13, witnessed by more than 100 guests, family, friends and well-wishers.
Through his many experiences and travels, Zhariff, 37, has witnessed countless instances of true beauty in humanity. Accordingly, his much anticipated book embodies the goodness filled with substance and realness of a man who has steadily defied expectations – and whose story will inspire us to do the same.
In many ways, this book is testament to him finally being able to let his life just be.
The book is a reflection of his own quest in seeking his authentic self – inspiring others with real-life experiences and his lifelong journey of learning.
“I learned the value of not giving up even if things were difficult or finding a way to do things, even if it seems impossible,” said Zhariff told this website previously.
Readers will be able to pick useful tools and knowledge about the power of inner-self, ikigai, self-actualisation, visualisation and such with inspiring stories that will move them to the core.
The knowledge, understanding and perspective gained through reading this book will inspire one to gravitate towards love and seek more of the vastness that exists.
“In my 50 years in education and public administration, never have I met such a strong willed young man who not only has the will and desire to survive, but to make his life mean something,” said educationist and former pro-chancellor of University Technology Mara Tan Sri Arshad Ayub in his foreword.
“I had to strive from a poor family to reach to where I am, and so he shows that it is not where you come from that is important, but to enjoy the journey and do the very best you can, and reach to where you are truly meant to be. If Zhariff can do it, you can do better,” he added.
‘SOS: Surfing out Stuff – A book of Growth & Guidance’ is on sale now at all major bookstores nationwide and BAC’s Gives Back Concept Store at its PJ campus for only RM39.90.
The launch was co-organised by MPH Bookstores and BAC Education Group, and officiated by Ahmad Soffian Mohd Shariff, press secretary to Minister of Housing and Local Development Zuraida Kamaruddin together with managing director of BAC Education Group Raja Singham.
